Summer in January, we need to have this more often!
Records set today:
Del Rio Airport: 88*F, up from 82*F in 1971
Hondo Airport: 86*F, up from 82*F in 2014
San Antonio Int'l Airport: 83*F, up from 81*F in 2014
The only down-side is the elevated Fire Weather conditions...which have prompted numerous NWS-issued warnings for dry, breezy conditions and the dry vegetation around the region.
As a cold front approaches, winds will pick up dramatically...25-35 mph gusts...through much of the region, which can be favorable for spreading wildfires. This cold front is expected during the afternoon/evening tomorrow through Central & West Texas.
This will send temperatures plummeting down to more normal temperatures through the week....highs in the 60's and lows in the 30's.
Dry, warm, and somewhat breezy conditions. Blowing some temperature records out of the park (at least Sunday we will)! Fire Weather concerns exist for much of West Texas...while elsewhere, a little moisture will start seeping in from the Gulf and cause some early morning fog...mostly East of Uvalde/Junction, but will be limited because of a dry push of air coming from the west. Get out and enjoy the warm weather!
Warm and dry through the weekend. Should be hitting near 80*F tomorrow, and possibly even the mid-80's by Sunday and Monday.
Wildfire - favored weather will be the main threat to speak of through the weekend, especially through West Texas. A little cooler after that, and even a [very slight] chance of rain on Tuesday...at or near the freezing mark Tuesday morning again.
Good Evening Central Texas!
It will start feeling like springtime here in Central Texas over the weekend, minus the rain.
In the 70's (even likely the 80's Sun/Mon)...then a little cool-off back into the 60's under breezy conditions mid next week. Sitting 10-15 degrees above normal for this time of year...could see a violent Spring storm season if this keeps up! But, enjoy it while it lasts...and awesome that it will be such a beautiful weekend.
West Texas saw some wintery-type weather yesterday...while Central Texas, all-in-all, got a nice rinsing.
Del Rio: 0.11"
San Antonio: 0.28"
San Angelo: 0.03" + Trace Snow
But that's all the excitement we get....because it's wintertime in Central Texas.
After 70's on Monday, 40's and 50's on Tuesday, 50's-60's today, 60's tomorrow...well, we could be around 80*F on Sunday! It will feel like spring-time!
Of course, this is a little abnormal for this time of year when you look at the "Extreme" temperatures down at the bottom of the forecast graphic, so the chances of it staying this warm for more than a day or two are pretty slim. But, something to look forward to! I hope you have some great outdoor weekend plans!
