Aviation Weather Observing Course
We are excited to introduce an in-depth, 8-hour-plus 100% online course on Aviation Weather Observing taught by an experienced aviation meteorologist. We didn't cut corners in the development of this course- you'll learn here! This course is specifically aimed at those who want a deeper understanding of how weather fits into the aviation industry and exactly how to observe the current weather conditions and encode them into meteorological aviation reports (METARs). Following successful completion of this class, each student may move forward with pursing a career with the FAA (or contractor) observing weather at commercial airports - with average pay ranging from $12/hr to over $40/hr.
Cloud Types - What They Mean
Look Up (at the sky), Not Down (at your smartphone weather app). Cirrus, Cumulus, Stratus, and Nimbus - that doesn't even begin to cover what you can discover about the atmosphere by taking a peak up at the sky.
Weather Radar - What Is It Really Telling You?
Those colors mean something, and so does the shape of the storm. See how meteorologists determine between severe weather on the radar and an ordinary rain shower.
